Keeper of time

Time is flowing by, bringing people from youth to death, from recklessness to wisdom. The time keeper keeps the river of centuries in its shores, closing her eyes on the misfortunes the flow brings to the human kind. If she ever would open her eyes, the time would stop, because she wouldn't be able to stand the pain time inflicts by causing death and destruction.

I guess this one's inspired by the "Wheel of fortune" by Edward Burne-Jones and a lot of early Renaissance works, where they just discovered the atmospheric perspective as a way to show depth. In those works they filled the pictures with Italian landscapes as backgrounds. Often you would then see for example an angel from "Annunciation", with a sea-scape and blue mountains in the back. Not sure I succeeded to get that feeling back. But I tried.
